Killdeer String Band

Aimée & I heard the Killdeer String Band at D&M Coffee last night. We first heard them busking at the Ellensburg Farmers’ Market a while back, and loved it! Their eclectic mix of Eastern European, Middle Eastern, Celtic, and other world influences over a base of classic Americana is fabulous. I stood there shaking my head in awe hearing unequivocally traditional American music in 11/8 time, (interspersed with the occasional pure Celtic or Middle Eastern slow ballad in more familiar 3/4 or 4/4 time). And every note was beautiful. I can’t go away from a performance of theirs feeling anything other than exhilarated. Do yourself a big favor and get the album off Bandcamp. Now.
